What if I actually cut my bangs that short

I think it would probably drive me fucking nuts, but I kind of like it.

Dear Photographers,

So I need some help. I’ve been searching for a nice DSLR camera within my price range, and I’m not sure what I should get. I’m looking to spend around $500, give or take $100. Basically what I want to use it for is for illustration; I want to be able to get clear, precise images that I can draw from and be able to see details well. I’m concerned a lot about the Megapixel I should be looking at. What quality photo could I get from say….a 14 megapixel camera? Or a 20?

Any advice for buying a relatively cheap DSLR camera will be very helpful guys! Thank you!

you don’t need a 20mp camera, and it would run you 2 grand at least :P  for your budget a low end dslr will do just fine ;)  a rebel T3i or a nikon 3100 will so just fine.  They come in a kit with a lense, albeit a rather low end lens, and should be more than good enough for what you need.  to give you an idea of why you don’t need a really high MP, my camera is 18 and its files are 5184x3456 :P

Thank you, Eric, I really appreciate this! I had actually just come across a refurbished rebel T3i on Norman Camera’s website for $529 just before I read this. It’s a 18mp camera. So hopefully I’ll be able to make this much this summer to go and buy it.
